{The Simpsons} = Did you know any "Ned Flanders" types in your Hall?
by Witness 007 inus brothers would be having a conversation about sports and this brother "flanders" would always start a spiritual conversation: "on a sunny day like this i just want to thank jehovah for my blessings....i wish we had meetings everyday....i feel bad i didn't go witnessing this weekend.
" .
many times i wanted to strangle him!...his wife left him and the truth, since then he is worse..

From Rutherford -2008 Watchtower ="dont have kid's till after Armagedon!"
by Witness 007 inyes i thought rutherford's policy on kid's was dead and the society had wised up....until i read the new "witnesses only" watchtower study magazine...compare.. rutherford's last book "children" 1942 = p.281 "wait until after armagedon to bring children into the world...it is only afew years before the other sheep are gathered to the lord, until armagedon...those with infants during armagedon will have greater woe...it would be a far greater difficulty to care for them during the tribulation.".
watchtower 2008 april 15 p.19 {picture of a middle aged couple witnessing with question: why do some christian couples decide not to have children?
} paragraph 12 "single or childless for a noble purpose.....numerous couples have decided to remain childless....they often do so to remain freer to serve jehovah...they are willing to place kingdom interests above some of the privileges that go with marriage...jehovah will not forget their work, and the love they show for his name...there will be a great tribulation...doubtless, it will be a difficult time for all of us-adults and children alike.".

I cannot figure out why they would print an article like this. I cannot understand how they think they will benefit from telling people not to have children. I can only see this having a negative effect on people. How are people with children supposed to react to this article? I can see them getting very pissed off, first from the article itself, secondly from all the "friendly encouragement" - comments such as "Oh, that's too bad that you have kids. I bet you feel bad that you can't serve Jehovah more."
Some are suggesting that there is an ulterior motive for printing this. Some think that the WTS is hoping to squeeze more cash out of its members in the form of estate planning. I really don't believe that the WTS is thinking that far ahead. The married couples who do hope to become CO's or missionaries will have no estate to pass on to anyone. They all live paycheck to paycheck and none own homes, they all rent.
I think that this article just provieds further proof of how out of touch they really are and how much they buy into their own crap. No kids means no future, no one to keep the organization going, no new elders, no one left to drop a dollar into the donation box. Keep it up folks, insult the R&F, don't encourage a future generation, see how much longer you will last.
Ugh! And telling them to stay single! For a woman to succeed in the WTS all she can hope for is a husband!
They just hate women and children. Great strategey for building a strong organization!

Gas Prices & Field Service
by doinmypart inthe reason given for combining the bookstudy with the tms and service meeting was rising gas prices.
whether that was society's true reason for the change or not, that was what the publishers were told.. if i were a publisher contemplating this coming weekend's field service activity and a near-empty gas tank, i simply would not go out.. do you think there will be a corresponding reduction in the number of field service hours as gas prices increase?.
has anyone noticed a trend in the monthly reports published in the km?.

Geez! Don't you guys get it! The whole reason they eliminated the book study was to save the friends' gas. So the gas that you would have used driving to and from the meeting is now available for Saturday, all morning long! Plus don't you remember the widow with the small jar of oil and flour that never ran out - that's what Jehovah will do for your gas tank! You know, as long as you don't miss any meetings and have all of your study articles highlighted.

Did you ever really believe that god wanted you to shun people?
by jambon1 ini think at one point i did.
looking back i can't see why i thought like that.
i always had doubts about it but you would hear the old 'gods loving dicipline' line.

I was never really friends with anyone who was DF'd, so shunning them wasn't really an issue. I figured it was something that they had to work between thier own families - I wasn't a factor. But then a very good friend of mine was DF'd (technically he DA'd, but..). This really bothered me alot. It didn't make sence to me and I didn't know what to do. I believed that he was going to die because he couldn't force himself to conform to WT standards. And I know that he tried. Also, I didn't think that God was that much of a jerk that he would kill someone just because they weren't perfect - he'd have to kill everyone! I knew that ignoring my friend was not going to rewire his brain. And if he wasn't to survive the big A, shouldn't I be getting the most out of our friendship now, while I still had the chance? I decided then that shunning was wrong. Although I did seek him out and we are friends again, I wasn't there when he really needed his friends. I'm still disappointed with myself for that.

My favorite part was when they showed the guy polishing the cup then the Pens scored again with 26 seconds left and won three hours later. The Redwings might play better but the Penguins want it more.

KNOCKING was selected for "Community Classroom"
by kwr inif your child is in middle or high school, please contact his teacher or school administrator to request that his school participate in the "community classroom" program sponsored by pbs and the independent television service.
knocking was selected for "community classroom" and will be offered to public schools across the united states for free.
the story lines in knocking have been developed into a curriculum with supporting video modules from the film.

The content will use the story of Jehovah's Witnesses to educate students on civil liberties, religious tolerance, medical ethics and standing for what you believe.
Seems a bit ironic, dontcha think?

How can this video possibly be considered "educational"? The whole point of it is candy coat Jehovah's Witnesses. It has no business in public schools. Why not teach kids about mortgages and interest rates and to properly use credit.

I just want to say that you can't tell who is dangerous and who is not by what they are wearing, what they look like, or what music they listen to.
I agree with this 100%.
What I am trying to say is that a person should not ignore his insticts. Sometimes you pick up a certain "vibe" from certain people, regardless of how they are dressed. If something is telling you there's something not right about a person - you should listen. Maybe it turns out that that person is harmless, maybe they are not. I am not speaking of this case specificly. I have seen several small, cute, female sisters walk into very stupid situations b/c they believe the JW legends. The WT indirectly encourages this type of stupidity.

It is tragic. The Watchtower rhetoric often times clouds people's judgement, allowing people to approach people who may seem dangerous or to walk into unsafe situations. The magazines and JW legends are full of stories of people who do just so and come out as heros. The WT may say in it's defence that they never printed anything that explicitly encourages dangerous behavior but urges readers to "use sound judgement." "Sound judgement" to many people means - fear no man, Jehovah will protect you as long as you are doing his will - so, go talk to that masked man weilding a chainsaw, you just may start a Bible study.

I think it would be very difficult to try to predict the WTS plans. I don't think they even know if they have a plan. They seem to be in a very unstable place. They know that they are losing members like crazy but are divided on how to make them stay. Should they tighten the reigns, force them to believe with fear and threats or loosen up and put on a friendlier face? Either way they will alienate a lot of folks.
